Suesh Travel Makeup Brush Set

I have been looking for a handy makeup brush set and I found a nice travel set from Suesh. Cosmopolitan magazine actually included this set in their 2010 beauty awards. The set includes five brushes: powder, blush, eyeshadow, eyebrow and lip. It came in a really nice faux leather pouch.

I was amazed at how soft the brushes were and it is comparable to foreign brands. It is very easy to clean as well. For PhP990, this so worth my money. You can get it either from their kiosk in Trinoma or order through their multiply site.

The best part? It fits my purse perfectly. Yey!

Durians and Pomelos

By my title alone, you can already guess what area of the country I'm talking about. I was sent to a beautiful city down south. Hello Davao!

I almost did not make it to my flight as the traffic along EDSA was just horrendous. I was actually surprised that I was upgraded to business class. Woot! Finally, I was able to experience an airline upgrade. I was even on the upper deck.

Well, the difference ends on the width of the seat as the food they served were still crackers and Happy peanuts. Boo. I was sent with my officemate, Isa, and we were checked in at the Waterfront Insular Hotel which was kind of old but is still nice. It is by the sea so you can stroll every morning which, sadly, we were not able to do. You can't swim in the water though because it is polluted. I am just heartbroken that on the other side of the beach is Samal Island and I wasn't even able to get a glimpse of it.

The first five six days were all work and no play. We were practically dead by the time we reached our hotel every single day that we cannot even drag ourselves sometimes to eat dinner. This is how you do a sloth inspired meal. Can I just say that Waterfront's Chocolate Delice Cake is the bomb!
Room service plus delivery = happiness!
We made sure to have time to ourselves last Sunday. We took pictures at the hotel. Lots of it actually but I wouldn't want this post to be a photodump. Haha.
Davao!
We heard mass at the San Pedro Cathedral. Downtown was festive as the Kadayawan festival was ongoing. I was actually confused whether to listen to the priest or look outside. Bad I know.

We then headed for Eden Nature Park which was situated at the top of a hill. It costed us PhP1,500 to go there because the cab driver waited for us for two hours. Park entrance was at PhP180 and it comes with free snacks while the tour was at Php 100. Once you reach the reception you have to enlist for the next tour which is hourly from 8AM to 4 PM. Not bad as the park was really nice. I was in love with the flowers and herbs. Yes, herbs. I have never smelled such citrusy citronella!
Blue Jade!
lettuce!

I was able to sneak in some outfit shots.

I got these really pretty engraved leather bracelets from The Bead Shop. It was kind of expensive at Php295 each but I was really sold on the words written.

After a tiring day, we headed for Abreeza, the newly-opened Ayala Mall in Davao. I was amazed that high-end brands such as Mango, Dorothy Perkins, Beauty Bar and Parfois have invaded Mindanao. I was actually able to buy the following from Terranova.
Maxi dress at PhP 495 from Php1,900! Vest at PhP495 also.
For pasalubong, you should not miss Aldevinco Shopping Center at C.M. Recto-Roxas Junction. I found shawls for PhP50!!! It was so freaking cheap that I got myself three.

I also got myself bangles made from shells. The thin ones were at PhP40 each while the thicker ones were at PhP75.

In anticipation of the beach season, I also bought a sarong.

I promise to go back to Davao and explore more of this beautiful city. Who's with me?

Som's Noodle House

It took me forever before I finally got to sample Som's Noodle House at Poblacion, Makati. I know, I know...where on earth have I been? Before I started my MBA, I have never considered dropping by Rockwell or any establishment around it. It is just so much of a hassle for me. Anyway, I ate there with friends one Saturday night.

Som's is a hole-in-the-wall restaurant. If I may say, it's pretty much like an airconditioned carinderia. A sosyal one since yuppies, law and MBA students frequent this place. You may also eat outside as they have tables set up. I guess this set-up favor the smoking crowd.

We wanted soup, noodles and meat. Of course, it would not be Thai if the soup is not Tom Yum. I find this so-so, I still think the best I've tasted so far is that of Siam's.

Ann and I are such Pad Thai fanatics so we ordered one. The dish is good for 2-3 persons and you can choose if you want it with chicken, pork, beef or shrimp. I was disappointed with their version though. I've tasted a lot of Pad Thai and this is now at the bottom of my list.

We asked the waitress what their best seller is and she recommended that we get the Garlic Pepper Chicken. Like the other dishes, you can also opt for beef, pork or shrimp. This one we liked. The chicken was tender and really flavorful.

For drinks we had the Thai Milk Tea which was served in quite an unusual way.

Okay, so I guess Som's was just so hyped up but I have been to more authentic Thai restaurants. I have yet to give the other dishes a try but right now, I'm not convinced. At all.

Som's Noodle House is located at 5291 A. Alger St. Poblacion, Makati City.

Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner

I have always been loyal to retractable liners because they are just so easy to use but I cannot achieve the dramatic or smokey effect provided by liquid or gel liners. I'm still scared of liquid so I decided to try the latter. It was just timely that Maybelline was on sale and I got the Lasting Drama gel liner for 20% off.

Like any other gel liners it came in a pot.

What's nice about it was that it came with its own brush which makes swiping th gel to your lids easily.

I don't have any basis for comparison but I like this liner because it glides on smoothly and it dries up easily. It's very friendly if I may say and the price is very affordable as well; and the brush, as I've mentioned, is a big plus.

Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner is available at leading department stores and retails at PhP 399.

Schoolgirl

I said goodbye to Friday nights and the whole of my Saturday when classes started. you have to sacrifice some social life for the better gain. Opportunity costs sucks. As we know, school will have you walking around everywhere so I have to be comfortable and it is a must that I wear flats. And another thing, the big bag is kind of a staple as well. Oh Longchamp Le pliage. how I love thee.

cardigan: Zara
flats: Dorothy Perkins
bag: Longchamp
bangles: Divi and Korea
I was getting pretty burned out so I asked my friends Ann and Mel for a Saturday get together. While waiting for Ann, Mel and I had yogurt at Coffee Bean. Ann arrived late as usual. (Haha peace Ann!)

We decided to watch Ang Babae sa Septic Tank just to destress. It was not as funny as other Eugene Domingo films but it was nice.

Since we had two hours to kill before the screening time, we went to the nearby Som's Thai food to have dinner. All three of us are such fanatics of Pad Thai. I personally adore Thai cuisine. Yum!

I treasure moments like these because I may not get to have the active social life that I once had for the next year or maybe more; but I'm okay with it. I eat stress more often than my digestive system takes in real food. Haha.

Oh well, I have a flight to Davao in nine hours. I have to sleep now or else I may fall off a storage tank.
